Barry Fleming - My Music

It's fair to say that without my songwriting and music I have no idea what I would be doing today. I love every aspect of what I do; the feeling of creating music and writing songs, to hearing the finished product and then hoping that the people like what I do. So far I have been fortunate and blessed that this appears to be the case, and as long as it continues then I shall continue to write and produce what I hope people will know & enjoy as 'my music'.

My musical style has changed somewhat since the release of the Household Honey EP in 2009 - I can't believe it has been that long since the song was put out there; nor can I believe it still gets regular airplay and requests on local radio stations! My 1st self-produced album after Household Honey, 'Rainbow Run', featured an array of various styles and tempos; and it was perhaps three-quarters of the way through 'Rainbow Run' that I began writing some acoustic tracks with the help of my dear friend and fellow musician Michael McGrath.

My music has been classed as 'thought provoking' and 'catchy', and so for a guitarist to attempt to make head or tail of how I wanted the new songs to sound was no easy task. After meeting up with Michael I can safely say that he grasped what I was after, and in my opinion, a new songwriting style of music began to emerge from me.

Growing up in an very electro-pop culture, keyboards will undoubtedly always be my first love; however, my interest in acoustic guitar music has recently grown to the level that my latest song 'Faith in Me' is nothing but that. I had written the song at the beginning of 2011 for taking part in the Nashville Music Festival in Belfast, which incidently was the first time I'd played guitar at any venue in public; and felt all it needed were the finishing touches along with my songwriting 'stamp' to take it's place with the rest of my previous songs. Faith in Me is currently available on iTunes & AmazonMp3 as a download, and is a song which I'm very proud of.

As a songwriter I will always take the stance of 'how will the listener hear this', or 'what do I want the listener to hear? Having had great feedback after being invited into Gerry Anderson's radio show and also appearing on BBC 2 last year, all I can say at present is that it appears the 'listeners' like what I do... this for me is what makes it worthwhile... and I once again thank each and every person who has either taken the time to get in touch with me, or has bought my music. I honestly cannot thank you enough or tell you all what it means to me.

As for my future songwriting projects - I have a few irons in the fire, and as long as my guitar isn't too far away, I hope plenty more new songs to be written & recorded....basically just keep'in doing what I love to do.
